I’m smart, but I’m broke. Won’t you help a lower-middle-class guy fulfill his lifelong dream of earning a Ph.D.?

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Benjamin Geiger, and I want to go to grad school. For as long as I can remember, I’ve seen myself walking across a stage wearing a tam and hood, and I’ve seen myself standing in front of a classroom full of college students, passing on the knowledge that I’ve helped to discover. My grandfather was charter faculty at a community college here in Florida, so the love of teaching runs in the family.

USF has acknowledged that I’m smart enough to do this: I’ve been accepted into the Computer Science Ph.D. program. Now the only real concern is how I’m going to pay for it. And that’s where you come in.

I’m not asking anybody to singlehandedly cover my expenses for the next seven years (though if someone were to offer, I probably wouldn’t turn it down). But I know I’ll be facing expenses for tuition, books, meals, rent, gas, and other necessities of college life, and a few dollars per person adds up.

Will you step up and help?
